Mrs. Lathrop

Welcome to Junior High! This is my 3rd year as the 6th grade English and homeroom teacher here at CCS and I love teaching this grade level as well as keeping everyone on track as the homeroom teacher. In this class we focus a lot on Grammar and Language Mechanics, have weekly spelling and vocabulary lists, and 5-6 essays throughout the year that helps to develop your writing skills. We also spend a significant amount of time on reading and reading comprehension to round out the complete English course.

I grew up at here at Calvary. I was a student here at CCS from Junior High all the way through High School. In my Junior year of High School, I began accompanying the High School choir and have remained the accompanist ever since then. After I graduated from college in 2004, I came on staff here full time and have been blessed to serve the Lord and the students in this place.

In addition to teaching English I am the ASB Advisor, the Yearbook Advisor and the choirs accompanist. I also spend my after school hours teaching beginning piano classes at a music school in Carlsbad where I have taught for the last 6 years.

I thank God for the abilities and the talents He has given to me and I make it my offering of worship to use them for His glory. To God be the glory both now and forever, amen!

I hold an Associates Degree in Music from Palomar college and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music and a Minor in English from San Diego State University.
